Construction on the the royal palace in Madrid was started in 1735 after the previous structure burned the year before. The current structure wasn't completed until 1755. It includes 3,418 rooms and is a monument to its time. It's also very difficult to sketch when sitting in front of it, given its detail, size and the shifting light. But still....
